Converting an Aquarium into a Terrarium
I have a 14 gallon all in one tank that I used to use as a small reef tank before I upgraded. I am thinking of converting this into a terrarium for mostly Angraecoid orchids and other small Vandaceous plants.
The aquarium is cube shaped and comes with a hood and an area in the back for filtration. I am planning on putting down a layer of LECA for any extra water and putting an ultrasonic humidifier in one of the back filtration chambers. I will use a PC fan to blow the mist that is created through the old water intakes.
My main question right now involves the stock lighting. Since it was originally a reef set up. It came with one 10,000K and one actinic PC bulb. I know this is not the correct color temperature for plants and would like to replace these with a 6500 or 6700 K bulb. The current bulbs are 24 watt and 13" long. I can't seem to find lights in the right spectrum for plants that fit into the current fixture. If anyone has an idea or can point me in the right direction, please let me know.
