New orchid terrarium..
Default New orchid terrarium..

After putting together one covered tank with lights and having such an amazing response from my plants (lots of new roots + growth, a few budding plants) I had the idea of making a more shady tank with a more naturalistic look for a few cooler-growers. Picked up this tank with the background already made, although it was old and needed a complete cleaning and new media on the bottom.

I wound up ripping out most of the established vine plant, a climbing Ficus, but am hoping it'll re-establish as it's a great looking plant.

Currently have a couple of masdevallia's in there, average temp is 60-68 degrees, and humidity seem pretty steady in the 80% range. Daily misting by hand, which is what I give my other tank and it seems happy.

It came with this random noID - not sure what it is, but I think it's in spike. Sometimes I wonder if mine don't flower because I'm giving my plants too much care...

Thanks to everyone for all the advice, I've been reading through this section and learned a ton of useful information.

Love the look of that, and love that big piece of wood you have.

Thanks. I'm thinking of mounting some more masdevallia's to it.
