hello, I bet your going to need more lighting. I custom built my own case wich measures 4' x4'x 2'.theres a picture some where in the members displays. I have a light that holds 8 4' 54 watt ho t5 bulbs and I still need more lighting. on the tops of my shelves the plants are getting about 2500 fc. the bottom is getting about 600 fc.

Neat...wow you're growing some stuff pretty close to those lights! I see some phals down at the bottom - what do you have in there?

It's interesting, because I have some of my high light plants around a foot away from my T5s (4 tubes only), and they still have purple leaves, but maybe I have them on longer than you do (I have 16 hour cycles).

Yes have been growing most of my plants in S/h no real issues. It is definitaly my preference for growing mediums.

I have had a few purple leaves mostly the phal until i moved them to the bottom shelves
I'm getting about 2250-2500 fc on the top shelf and around 500 fc on the bottom. I'm going to raise the bottom shelf be another 4-6 inches to get more light. If I had to remake the entire tank I would make a foot shorter

My light cycle is 14 hours

mostly phal species on the bottom shelf with one nodosa and a maxiliria

On the top shelf, 1 Onc, 5 catts,5 paph, 1 phrag

I received a few request for more detail photo about the vent/exhausts.

Vent are about 1 inch high and about 6 inches wide.
The are closable by hand and then tightening the screws by hand.

this is a 4 inch diameter vent hole, with and small computer fan for an intake.
