Default I started a new Terrarium

After spending days reading this topic, I decided to take the plunge and convert a 55 gal aquarium to my new Orchid terrarium.

I have got 2 T8 tubes with full spectrum lighting. The background was reused from the aquarium. I converted a computer fan and it is running 24/7. In one corner, I bought a tabletop fountain to help with the humidity. After running it a few days, realized I needed more so purchased a fogging system that works great. I only need to run it a few minutes every other day.

My temps are running 75-84 degrees with a humidity rating of 80-95. I hung an old curtain rod in the back to hang my mounted chids and its working well. I covered an opening in the top with plastic but still have a small 2" circular hole on the top on each side. Don't seem to loose much heat through these so will not cover them at this point.

I ordered alot of jewel orchids from Rob's Little Frog Farm and I was every pleased with them when they arrived today. They are very nice plants. I plan to order more when the weather warms up some.

As the pics show, I have room for alot more. The cork board on the sides is temporary or I may hang some mounted orchids off them, too. I have really enjoyed doing this and couldn't have done it without all the great advice I have found on this site.

More work to be done and many more plants to be found for it but I'm loving every minute!! Hope the pics turn out.
