I just thought about this problem yesterday. I want to make two orchidrariums with automatic watering system. A think it is too time consumng to put bags on flowers every time the system is working. Moreover. the system supposed to be automatic and I don't want to change manual watering on manual flower protection.... Hope, the good air flow and correct positioning of the plants will help to avoid flower damage.
I agree with you Shadow on the above.
I have not had any flowers damaged by water marks in my orchid cases. If your going to use automatic misting then in my opinion you have to install more than one fan otherwise your plants will stay damp for to long which results in damage to flowers and potential fungi problems. In my 24 inch growing case I have 5 fans on 24/7!
If I was going to grow Paphs in an enclosed case then I would definitely not install automatic misters.
Mistking
Looking for a misting system? Look no further. Automated misting systems from MistKing are used by multitude of plant enthusiasts and are perfect for Orchids. Systems feature run dry pumps, ZipDrip valve, adjustable black nozzles, per second control! Automatically mist one growing shelf or a greenhouse full of Orchids.
I return to this thread after some two years and more experience. I have had no ill effects from misting my orchids and their blooms by hand in tanks. I do however keep the tanks well ventilated so everything dries out by day's end. Also, I have not experimented with misting Paph blooms and had not realized the rotting potential of the water collecting power of the slipper orchid bloom. Good to watch out for that.
