Default My terrarium

This is my terrarium for orchids. I took this picture 2 months ago and it looks now little different because of new plants and arragement. Bottom is 80 x 40 cm and height is 80 cm (31,5 x 15,7 in). Inside terrarium there are 4 little fans and automatic rainsystem with 3 nozzels. Lighting is outside; two T5 fluorecence tubes and one T8 Power Glo tube.

Decoration: pine branch with artificial lianes and spagnum moss.

(Now picture is too small )

There are two Oncidium-hybrids and Cattleya aclandie

Gastrochillum calceolaris is the first orchid to bloom in my terrarium.

Now that's what I want to do! Mark my words (now this is going to haunt me!) I WILL have an Orchidarium up and running this next spring. Have the hard parts (tank and misting) worked out - working on lights.

Anyway, super terrarium! Its really really nice! I really like how you used the wood to decorate it and to attach orchids to it. Very ingeneous!

Thank you . I don’t know what to say

It’s fine to hear that I did succeed in decoration. I’ve been very insecure about this project. When I started to plan my terrarium, I didn’t know personally any other orchid hobbyiest (to ask advise) in my hometown and I couldn’t find any books or articles about it. In my opinion, the best sources of all needed technical stuff are websites about bilding vivarium. In the terrarium there are 30 ´chids now and I just have to wait and see how well they are growing there.

Since I have found many friendly orchidgrowers from here and I have to thank my lucky stars, because one of them is importing orchids from Thailand and EU . So there is no need to visit flower shops anymore.
