Does anyone have any hints on cutting the egg crate light diffuser? I was able to get mine cut using some industrial scissors, but it left jagged edges that I had to use a Dremel tool to smooth.
Orchid Lover, I'm also glad that you got the 20 gallon tank. I recently put together a ten gallon orchidarium, and I can only fit about seven, medium-sized Masdevallias in it. It was almost too short for some of the bloom spikes.
Be careful what kind of fan you put in your tank. I bought an expensive, low-noise fan for my tank, and I promptly killed it when the humidity got too high.
I thought humidity would be more of a problem than it really is. The humidity in my tank jumps up to about 85% right after I water the plants, and it slowly descends from there. I usually start checking to see if any plants need water around 70% humidity. I put one of those pond foggers in the tank, and I only use it occasionally. Ross has an orchidarium that uses a fogger to humidify air going into the tank to keep the tank humidified and aired out, and I think this would work better than how I have mine set up. He put the fogger in a 5 gallon bucket, and he uses a fan to push air through the mist in the bucket, through a hose, and into the tank.
I hope this isn't too much rambling.
Good luck with your tank!
