How to promote seasonal changes in a warm terrarium?
The terrarium is situated in my bedroom, and I can reliably get it to 80% humidity. I did have a problem with things drying too fast, but have changed the fans around which should fix things. At the moment, i am getting highs of 25c and lows of 18c.
The question is, to promote flowering, orchids need seasonal variances. How could I do this in my bedroom?
Some orchids need more seasonal variation than others. The ones that come from tropical lowlands near the equator will be less picky about this than those from higher latitudes or higher elevations. The fact that your terrarium is warm, you probably have more of the "tropical" type. So... specifcally which orchids do you have?
The only one on the list that isn't low-elevation is the Masdevallia. That one might prefer to be a little cooler, but if it is thriving, orchids do adapt. I don't think you need to worry about seasopnal temperature variation for any of these.
