Almost finished aquarium turned orchidarium
So this is the progress so far on my terrarium/orchidarium. Thanks for all the advice I've recieved from everyone here so far.
This is my first proper terrarium I've made ever and it was really enjoyable, although stressful at times!
So far I have in there:
Restrepia Falgenbergii
Stelis Stevenosii
Dracula Lotax
Masdevallia Measuriana
Anoectochilus Roxburghii Hayata "Hong Sia"
I plan to add:
Lepanthes Calodictyon (if someone bought this off of Spiceotics in the past few days I hate you, I asked them if they had one and they edited the site for me to buy it and someone sniped it)
Lepanthes Pilosella
Aernagis Pumilio
Some kind of Pleurothallis
The moss is sphagnum, I'm hoping it'll spore and grow on the capillary matting. I'm assuming this live stuff will slowly die off but I have little knowledge of growing sphagnum other than its pretty versatile. The Lepanthes Calodictyon I specifically want on the rock protruding from the waterfall, it's small enough and creates such an impact I want it there.
I have a small usb pump pulling water to the top, just a cheap one from Amazon but only has 10000 hours on it apparently so I have left it still accessible for the future. I pierced the pipe so it drips a small amount of water to act as irrigation for the top half of the setup.
I need to add black sticky back plastic to the sides and base to hide the matting and foam.
Also, I've taken my Restrepia out of semi hydro, its roots as you can see were great, however I continuously had to wet new growth so it didn't blast, so although I'd like it in semi hydro, for new growth I need it to be in a more humid environment.
I've also added lots of springtails to help combat mould, although they seem to be enjoying going for a permanent swim...
