Dracula doesn't seem to bloom until temperatures get down to 15-16C. Mine does that at night then climbs to 24C during day. This is in winter. In summer it is much warmer both night and day and Dracs form flower spikes, but they blast before setting a good bud.

I really love the Dracula Chestertoni!
But I don't have the courage to take it on. . .not yet, not until I start seeing some really strong and contented growing out of my Dracula Hirsuta!
I am just now getting it to grow without black spotting! Thanks to great advice here from Rosim in BR.
OK, and I am going to have to go find a temperature converter. . .I can only think in Fahrenheit. . .so much for transworld thinking. ROFLOLOL
Good luck with that Chestertoni! They're gorgeous!

OK, I've made my temperature conversions. . .so around a low of 59 to high of 75 or so.
Ross, I am a little off in my growing rack. . .need to get the temps down quite a bit more at night. Thanks for the heads up.

Gwen, et al, I found my Dracula grew just fine all last summer with 80s (F) as a high. It's just that the spikes all blasted. But the plant did super well. Once the temps stayed at or below 60 F, then the spikes stayed and blossomed. I have about 3-4 more new spikes, but temps are starting to climb. Still stays below 62F at night though.

Did I tell you that I bought a couple of T-5 light fixtures? I was able to buy individual units. . .one bulb each.
I bought two for my upper grow rack and did see a drop in the temperature inside but then I had to add my old two bulb Home Depot grow light fixture to the bottom shelf and the temps went back up! LOL
I need to get another one of the T-5 bulb units for the lower light plants on the bottom shelf. . .if so, then my temps wouldn't be too far off during the day and would only need the cool down for the night.
P.S. How many foot candles do you think there are with two, two foot T-5's, at 10" below the fixtures? I don't think my readings are correct. I bet your best guess is more accurate. LOL

I don't have a clue. I just use my light meter when I want to know how many. I use 48" but I don't think it's as easy as 1/2 the light.
