Hi, how do you control the springtails colony? Or either jumping from the holes you mentioned.

Someone told me to use springtails with orchids ... I guess if works for you, shouldn't be a problem. Right?.

Thank you!

Springtails (at least the white tropical ones) love humidity. You don't really have to do anything to keep them in because they don't want to leave.

They are pretty remarkable

They self regulate based on the food supply. When I notice a bit of algae or mildew the next week there are a lot of tails and then both are gone

Since I have a stout culture of them I have started adding them to a lot of outdoor orchids too.

Hi DC
This comment about a crime scene stuck with me and I've found myself pondering it on several occasions! Could you make dark coloured labels and write on them with a UV pen? You'd be able to read them with a UV torch but if they were black/brown/green they wouldn't stand out so much under normal conditions. Just a thought!

Your set up looks great, I have great admiration for people who can create such wonderful environments.
Came across these this evening, ordering some for my garden. Wondered if something like this might work for you? I'm going for copper as I love the look once it has verdigris but not sure if that would be ok in your tank? Probably be good on your roof 🤣
