What would you do with a 10ga aquarium?

My sister wanted to toss her old small aquarium rig so I grabbed it.
Many initial thinking was to drill a small hole low on one of the sides and make a lichen/moss box to just enjoy some other types of plants. And then I remembered Rays really cool little glass vase terrarium with the small setup and it made think that you terrarium wizards might have some cool ideas for a small glass box

It can go indoors or out. I have a cool mist fogger I could use if I wanted to go that route

I will probably not get any lighting for this so either outdoors or something lower light

WW can a 10 grow any cool aqua plants?

Yes, bowl lotus, miniature water lily like Helvola, etc. But they need good light, and outside your tank will be algae covered. Most grow them in an opaque container or sheltered cove in a pond.

Low light, low maintenance inside, Marimo balls and some cherry shrimp is fun. Daughter would enjoy it.

How about a low, then higher spot in the bottom. Water in low part, fog mister there, no top cover, with a sandy beach at other end. Some Needle Spikerush (Dwarf Hairgrass), that's a bog plant that grows partially submerged, partially out. You could get a small Mangrove started at other end, or just a cool hardwood for mount, and put some little orchids or Tolumnia on it. Or a flock of Podangis.

The possibilities are endless. Depends on what you want. I have two 20-long tanks and have for YEARS been wanting a shellie tank. Just haven't had time to put it together. Shellies are cool.

Before I tried drilling it I would determine whether or not it was made from tempered glass. Many are, and drilling them will inevitably result in shattered glass.

29ga bowfront - i have a rainbow shark (8 years old) a ropefish 3 y/o, one cory cat (7y/o) and 2 bloodfin(?) tetra.

i have a bunch of java moss growing in there and used to have a blue crayfish who ate and kept it in check...alas, mobster the lobster passed on a while back

You're in the right place... both DC and I are notorious hijackers of threads... especially our own.

I prefer nerite snails. I had a zebra pleco that was really cool, but none of the plecos are really that great at eating algae unless you want a pleco just because. The bristlenose are probably some of the better algae eaters but I don't care for their look.

Mostly I've had cichlids of some sort, and they don't tend to play well with most algae eater fish. I've used mystery snails and trap door snails, but that's because I used to sell them at the pond store so I got them on the cheap.
