as the thread alludes this is a sort of terrarium, sort of build, more of a 'loose enclosure assembly and accessorizing'.

i got this Podangis (thanks a lot WW! and your peer pressure)( you like you i assume i am your peer ) and i felt like it would be too small to handle if i ever forget to water it for a day....i also bought two other minis with it because i wanted to get free shipping

so i went on letgo and got this

i assume it is for candle or something dumb but i paid $20 and i was pleased about that.

I sprayed some rustoleum clear coat on the bottom of the inside and the whole outside

then i took a few SS nuts and brass washers and made these hangers on the inside using the old fashion "hand vices"

i use aquarium silicon caulk and ended up with like 15 spots to hang plants and move them as needed

two 5x7 plastic photo frames will add extra humidity thanks to LECA and heat

here is the assembled and test fit with plants

it does not seal at any of the joints and there are two vents on the top so i am not worried about stagnation, it sits under a fan on the patio

money shot through the top

and, of course, Podangis dactyloceras- three spikes

thanks to Roberta for having such cool minis and always making me mad jealous and to WW for making this the most demanding plant i have ever purchased

Neat setup! And Pete got an "Awwwww"

Might be a good idea to put a cheap thermometer in there so you'll know if heat buildup is a problem or not. If it turns out to be an issue, a little solar fan would take care of it.

Put less water in those LECA trays. About half is fine. The LECA will wick the water and provide more evaporative surface area.

Thanks Ray. I was not sure about the best volume of water but that makes more sense.

You are quite welcome, Peer DC.

That is one cool piece...I'm super jealous. Now I need to go scramble around in the garage looking for "something" for mine. I feel kinda awkward here... mine's still hanging off a wine bottle in the kitchen... as I stare and it and will it to live. Still in shock here.

Nice wardian case! Any plans to try to control mold growth, especially in the LECA layer?
