Need a light for under the aquarium lid

I just bought a 20 gallon long aquarium so that I can start growing Masdevallias and Lepanthes. I have a very mischievous cat that will definitely break any light that I try to put in top of the aquarium lid. And if I mounted from the ceiling he will have even more fun before breaking it 😂😂 so I need advice on what to get. I was thinking the strip LED lights that I can adhere to the bottom. Will they work? How far away do they need to be from my plants? I put a bunch of perlite in my tank and once I get my hanging plants up, they will be less than 3-4 inches from the top of the lid.

Look at theorchidhobbyist.com. They are probably the best “bang for your buck” plant lights out there.

“How far” depends upon both the lamp chosen and the types of plants under it.
