SaraJean, your pergola is great! And took a lot more skill and work than my "tinker toy" structures made with conduit. (And looks a lot better) The hardest part of mine was coming up with the fittings (corners, T's, etc.) Home Depot or equivalent has the conduit (I like 3/4", light enough for me to carry, easy to cut with a saber saw, and strong enough) but not the fittings. I found those at the local swap meet.

I have always struggled with this plant, but I suppose I kept it too warm.

About a year ago, I picked up Phal. Little One (Phal hygrochila <aka Vandopsis parishii> x Phal japonica) crossed back to Phal japonica (=Phal. Senne Mandy), and it seems to be doing well in my hot weather in S/H culture, even though both species have similar temperature profiles in nature.

I also struggle with this plant. I got a new one a bit less than 2 years ago and was finally doing well with it and it even flowered this spring. It then didn't appreciate the etreme heat this summer and once every 10 days watering during my vacation in August. It looks so bad that I give it maybe a 10% chance of bouncing back...
