Default Unusual growth on Phal equestris spikes

Anyone ever had spikes look like these? If so, what did these skinny growths become? I guess I'll know soon enough as they are growing quickly, but was curious to know if anyone else has seen this before.

This equestris spikes branches every year, so I'm guessing that's probably what is going on, but I've never seen it look like this. 2 out of 4 spikes are like this, the 2 others are still a bit small. They also keiki freely, but do so at the spike tips when done flowering, I've never had it keiki from a spike node.

The first pic looks like some buds developing ?
Keikis can develop on the nodes - I've actually only seen that, and not from the end of the spike, but have never had many Phals.

Yes I know the first pic is the spike starting to produce buds, the odd growth I'm refering to is the thin elongated part under.. It's very common for Phal equestris to keiki at the spike tips when done flowering.

It's probably just the spikes branching out.. but I've never seen it look like that. Especially the second photo..
