Phal parishii
Right now I have three Phal parishii, two mounted and one potted. This one, mounted, opened the first flower yesterday, and it's simply a delight. The potted plant, from Peter Lin, is in spike. At least so far, this is the smallest of any Phal I've bloomed (chibae is in bud and I expect smaller flowers), and not much larger than my smallest orchid altogether (Zygostates alleniana). Here's the flower with the plant where it sits on my mini rack:
Here's a slightly better view of the flower:
TO better show the size of the flower, here it is next to the nib of a Flair pen:
(Sorry about the thumbnails. Photobucket is acting up tonight.)

(For those who observe it, the scale has been taken care of. It wasn't scale.)

Are these scented? I've read yes and no.

Very nice! The blooms are very pretty! Scale. I always hate when I take a nice picture of an orchid or other plant and then see, in the picture, that there are mealy bugs or scale. I seem to have a cure for both, though. I find that Neem oil takes care of scale and Diatomaceous earth takes care of scale.

I noticed an ever so slight something this morning. Tomorrow when I don't have to work I should find out. The species is fragrant but in cultivation it often isn't. This particular plant is a seedling, so it could also not be fragrant this year but develop next year. I HOPE that when a larger one I have blooms I'll know for sure!

Interestingly, I'd not noticed anything on the leaf before the photo. When I went to actually treat it, though, the leaf was clean and spotless. Kind of a mystery.
I'm a huge advocate of the use of DE, by the way.

All three buds have now opened on this little seedling, and I'm still completely enchanted. I have a second seedling which hangs beside this one that's not going to spike this year (too busy growing) but also a more mature plant with four spikes and too many buds to count.
Anyway:

We must shop at the same vendors. I have a cute parishii that I bought last year and it has a nice spike now with four big fat buds. I'm watching daily. I also got a lobbii from the same vendor and it is just growing. LOC has awesome plants!

The fimbriata I showed is indeed from LOC, a vendor I trust. Others have come from Andy's and Peter Lin. The offerings of each are delightful.
