A bloom at the end of the same inflorescence as the keiki (but not produced by the keiki). Funny bloom is not symmetrical and won't open up completely. It's bowed inward as if it is cupping something and has one lateral sepal thrust outward as if it is doing an inner thigh stretch.

I think the colours are delish though.

Keiki is pumping out more roots. Three growing and two new nubbins forming. Fun to watch it develop.

It's also growing a keiki on another inflorescence, and a second bloom on a third. This one's determined to reproduce itself.

I know lueddemanniana like to produce keikis, but I hope it doesn't wear itself out. It's not that big of a plant.

Color is great! Did this flower for you before? Does this flower look different from the previous ones? Did you treat the keiki with kelp like you were contemplating? Ray says on his site that too much kelp can make for weird flowers.

First time flowering for me, but it did come to me in bloom with a wonky flower. I was hoping it was from transport or stress. I guess not. Have to wait and see how the other bloom turns out.

Yes, I did apply some kelp and fertilizer to the roots of the keiki a few times (the same stuff fed to the rest of the plant at feeding time). Sooooo, maybe that's it. But the flower isn't part of the keiki; it's further down on the inflorescence, so not sure if that would directly affect it?

Oh well, wonky is beautiful too, right? Isn't that the slogan of a cosmetics company?

BTW, when I bent down to sniff the Phal. ludemmannia var. purpata this morning, I noticed my other phal that smells like fake bacon later in the day has a lovely, spicy, sweet fragrance in the morning. These orchids are fascinating!

This is completely conjecture, but I suspect a small molecule like most rooting hormones could be transported inside a plant fairly easily. Definitely give it a chance to bloom again.

So, it attracts the refined and elegant in the morning, and rednecks in the afternoon. Covering most bases.
