First time flowering for me, but it did come to me in bloom with a wonky flower. I was hoping it was from transport or stress. I guess not. Have to wait and see how the other bloom turns out.
Yes, I did apply some kelp and fertilizer to the roots of the keiki a few times (the same stuff fed to the rest of the plant at feeding time). Sooooo, maybe that's it. But the flower isn't part of the keiki; it's further down on the inflorescence, so not sure if that would directly affect it?
Oh well, wonky is beautiful too, right? Isn't that the slogan of a cosmetics company?
BTW, when I bent down to sniff the Phal. ludemmannia var. purpata this morning, I noticed my other phal that smells like fake bacon later in the day has a lovely, spicy, sweet fragrance in the morning. These orchids are fascinating!
