In another thread I mentioned four immature P schillerianas (and stuartianas) I've been growing since early Spring. These plants are all quite small, with a total leaf-span roughly equal to the length of one leaf of a mature plant of the species. My hope was that with good attention I might see flowers from them in 2018. These plants, though, were quite impatient and have now each gone into bloom. When the first plant spiked I was surprised, but when all four did I was shocked. The two schillerianas are also progressing excellently.
The first is a plant I've already shown and has two flowers, but here it is again; I like its color but of the four it's the least shapely to my eye:
This one has just one flower but it has much nicer form that the first:
Here's the third (two flowers), which I think is a bit recurved:
The fourth is my favorite, and has three flowers. I'm not sure what caused the two spots on the right petal of the front flower:
I'm already anxious to see how these flowers better develop as the plants mature.
