Phal. thailandica
I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought I'd put it here.
About a week ago my camera, lenses, and tripod were stolen. Or I discovered the theft, at least. Long story short, my insurance company covered well enough, after my deductible, that I was able to replace the camera and two lenses. I've taken a few photos with the new camera (dogs, a few orchids) but to me the most interesting pics, and to me most relevant, are of my Phal thailandica. I have two of these delightful true minis and both have set spikes. The plants have a leaf-span of maybe an inch and a half, so these photos are a nice test of the camera's macro capabilities. The photo of the first plant is slightly shaky as these are hand-held shots, but I'm pretty satisfied with the camera. And, of course, about as utterly thrilled to see these spikes as I think I may ever be.
Needless to say, when these jewels bloom I'll post pics in this thread.

You're lucky they didn't steal your true treasures, your orchids (lol...can't imagine anyone doing that).

Thank goodness for insurance! And that truly is a mini, great job. Can't wait to see the blooms.

I have a friend that used to raise cattleya and it's relatives in Jamaica in their backyard, and sadly someone came and stole most of the collection once they started blooming. As this thread suggests, theft is a real and sad part of this world. Be cautious

Wow, can't believe it. I hope they didn't mug you for it.
Uhhm, what kind of insurance? I walk in the city parks a lot with camera and binoculars. If I get mugged I don't think I would be able to replace it all. At least not quickly.

Sorry to hear about your cameras. =(
I got mine from Andy as well! It bloomed late spring/early summer this year, and it has a nice, clean fragrance in the early morning! The flower is very cute! Enjoy!

In this case it was renter's insurance. A "friend" fell on hard times and I gave him a place to stay. The insurance is through USAA, who is about as easy to work with as I've ever encountered. From filing my claim to my receiving settlement took a whopping three days, which is as close to instant as you get in the industry. I'm sure they could work out a policy to cover you.
