Sometimes in fall, as the angle of the sun in the sky gets lower, direct sun reaches further from the window or starts to hit different leaf surfaces head on. Also, any shade from outside decreases as leaves fall. One bright clear morning could do it. Doesn't look like serious damage. As a precaution, turn plants so particularly broad flat surfaces like that are not facing the window.
Hmmm, interesting. It's possible this happened earlier in the year as the leaf has been like this for quite some time. I do turn my plants, but this was a young'un when I got it in March, and the leaves were absolutely without blemish of any sort and beautifully shiny (the nicest leaves I've ever seen on a phal). So perhaps those tender leaves (and this one in particular) just didn't like the change from a protected greenhouse in Taiwan to my windowsill.
Otherwise, it's doing really well, growing lovely roots and two inflorescences, which I'm guessing probably won't bloom now until next year. Oh, the torture!
