Well, I would have to say that you are all quite right. It does look like the P. Valentinii.

Here is its second bloom, with a third on the way, kinda smushed up against the leaf underneath, so that its lip is at an angle.

The little frog-like alien-looking man standing on a tadpole in the centre of the flower looks like he's quite shocked too and has his hands up in front of his gaping mouth as if scandalized by the revelation.

The variation in the grex for the hybrid appears to be highly variable with a little research on my end... so not sure we can be sure of what it is... the c-c alone has a lot of variation. i saw the 'red' clone which could it be it depending on how warm of light you or the online photographers shot with... yours looks a little cooler, more in magenta tones, while online they look more brick red... sorta kinda...

whatever it is, such a beautiful flower and color, what a beautiful surprise from an unlikely place... one of my fav phal species...

Here is my CC chatallada for comparison. Colour is brick red as mentioned. Note the lip and bright yellow column.

I wouldn't give up my Chattalade but I wouldn't mind having Paphlover's, whatever that is! Love the form and color!

Leslie,

Beautiful!!!!!!! Love the dark colour.

I can't tell from your pic, but would you say your flower is waxy and thick as I thought c-c would be?

Hi Paphlover, yes the substance is thick and the texture is waxy on my CC. It is a trait that passed on to your flowers too

Newb question:
I've seen a few cornu-cervis irl now, and didn't realize the flowers were so tiny…maybe 1" x 1". Are all cornu-cervis quite small?

My plant (which now has 3 flowers in bloom) has larger flowers that measure H: 2" x W: 1.5" (possibly confirming it is crossed with a larger flower like violacea).

Generally CCs are small; from 1 to 1.5 inches. They make up by throwing lots of blooms, sequentially too. Here's my plant last year...

Thanks! I give it bright light 1800 fc and heavy spraying and feeding as soon as buds start in April through Sept. Then moist throughout fall and winter, slight drying once a while, feeding once a month.
