that's ok

most giganteas ive seen have been in bark or a bark/sphagnum or seramis mix.

seen a few mounted on the big leaf orchids forum so it is possible even if the plant gets large

orchiata bark is supposed to last a long time but have problems with ph from what ive read.

don't know if any bodies tried growing one in chc though as some people says it lasts a long time.

the only other media is leca or a similar non organic media, think ive seen a gigantea grown in leca (not semi hydro) before.

Hi,
I do not own a Phalaenopsis gigantea, but almost all of my Phalaenopsis grow in coconut rope cut into pieces of about half an inch.
I prefer this to chc, because it does not become compact and lasts years.
I recently purchased a Phalaenopsis bellina, and to encourage the trend of the leaves, to hang down, I keep the pot hanging tilted, almost horizontal.
I hope that my explanation is understandable
ciao Nicola

I don't grow this Phal but my first Phals were in red lava rock/clay pots and they had perfect roots. I soaked them for about ten minutes every time I watered them. I ended up giving them away (noID's and needed space).
I now have some bellinas, a violacea and a deliciosa in LECA and basket pots but as they are newer orchids, I cannot really evaluate the set up. They seem to be doing well. The leaves look firm.

Angraecums don't really like being potted either but I find that if I soak the orchid roots well before un-potting, put it in dry medium and then let it stay dry for a day or two, they don't even care that I have messed with their roots...even if I break a few. If I put them in wet medium or forget and water...they are unhappy. It may be the same with your Phal. No idea.
