I was told not to re-pot a phal when she is in bloom. Then I readthat you could... so can I re-pot my phal even though she is in bloom or not. I am quite confused. I would really like to keep her followers. Oh and does anyone know hippie living a flower lasts? I have a flower that had been open for a week now. Sorry this is my first orchid.
Ok thanks. I don't have to re-pot her right now I was just frustrated at the mixed answers.I would hear no from a greetings but then I read an arrival dating you could. I don't think I have a hybrid. She is a moth phal. I'll put a picture below.
I've repotted phals with flowers and they didn't miss a beat. I've also repotted other phals with flowers and had some buds abort.
So I guess the bottom line is that it can be done, but the success likely depends on the individual plant. As jcec1 said, unless there's a reason to repot (if it's in rotting bark medium or too tightly packed in sphagnum), I wouldn't mess with it.
The flowers can last months in favorable conditions.
