Unhappy Re-poting moth phal with flowers

I was told not to re-pot a phal when she is in bloom. Then I readthat you could... so can I re-pot my phal even though she is in bloom or not. I am quite confused. I would really like to keep her followers. Oh and does anyone know hippie living a flower lasts? I have a flower that had been open for a week now. Sorry this is my first orchid.

Why do you want to repot your phalaenopsis now?

They can often be repotted successfully when in bloom, but sometimes the shock can cause blooms to finish early or spikes to abort.

Depending on the plant, I am guessing it's a phalaenopsis hybrid, the blooms can last several months in ideal conditions.

If this is your first phalaenopsis and there is no obvious reason to repot I would leave it be until it has finished flowering.

Ok thanks. I don't have to re-pot her right now I was just frustrated at the mixed answers.I would hear no from a greetings but then I read an arrival dating you could. I don't think I have a hybrid. She is a moth phal. I'll put a picture below.

I've repotted phals with flowers and they didn't miss a beat. I've also repotted other phals with flowers and had some buds abort.

So I guess the bottom line is that it can be done, but the success likely depends on the individual plant. As jcec1 said, unless there's a reason to repot (if it's in rotting bark medium or too tightly packed in sphagnum), I wouldn't mess with it.

The flowers can last months in favorable conditions.

If I buy a Phalaenopsis, I always repot when I get it home, even if it is blooming. The flowers never suffer & keep blooming.

Typically, Phalaenopsis flowers last for at least a month, sometimes 3 months or longer.

"Moth orchid" is the common name, Phalaenopsis is the genus. Unless purchased at a orchid specialty shop, odds are it is a hybrid.

You don't have to repot immediately but it is a good practice to un-pot newly acquired plants and inspect them.
