Another stubborn spike story - Phal. Mahin hin
My Phal. Mahin hin (equestris x luedde) has been in spike since I got it.
A year and a half ago.
The spike is not entirely stalled- it keeps elongating, at about 17" now- but no hint of buds developing yet. It gets all the light a Phalaenopsis could possibly want.
I'm watching the feedback on Camille's similar post and welcome any thoughts or experience about my stubborn Phal.

Not sure what you mean by all the light a phal wants, to me phals have lower light requirements. My phals are in a North facing window and that was too much, I had to put a sheer curtain up. I have good luck with spiking and reblooming.

from what I've read different phals can tolerate more light more than others. for instance gigantea can tolerate a lot more light than most phals since it grows high up in the tree canopy only know this because I was going to buy one but bought a mok choi yew instead.
think I read equestris is a low light phal not sure about leudde though.

Right about different phals and light requirements. In Orchid wiki it says phal Mahinhin likes partial shade, so maybe it's getting too much light.

I find that warmth and better light speeds Phals up (as well as most orchids). In the winter, when I was growing in a window, my orchids would take forever to flower but, under those hot T5 lights...wow! And, in the summer, when temps are above 80'F...again, wow!

I've got 20 or so Phals, species and hybrids, and all of them bloom reliably except Mah hin. A few months back, I moved Mahinhin from the Phal area to shelves with Catt hybrids that bloom well. It's about 2 inches further from the lights than the Catts are.

Funny how both parents are phals from the phillipines. mahinhin is tagalog/filipino word for meek.
Could be coincidental. Regardless I think the flowers on this primary look great
