Very nice! I need to get me one of those soon. I have Phal. Samera, a hybrid of bellina and violacea, but is is struggling while all of my other phals are doing great. If it goes to the landfill, it will be replaced with a bellina. Lovely!

they are nice, ive got quiet a few violacea's and a samera.

from what ive read bellina's can be more tricky to grow, dunno how true it is.

I bought a small violacea last year and it is just starting to spike right now. I have no trouble with hieroglyphica, violacea, corningiana and equestris, but the Samera is definitely not thriving. I have also read that bellinas can be tough, so I hoped the Samera might be easier, but so far, not so easy for me.

It has a nice citrus cent that varies in strength through the day. It sits on the windowledge at the top of the stairs and I catch the scent quite often as I go up and down.

I don't find it hard to grow, but it needs more light than my other Phals. It sets in a south-west window while my others sit in a east (or north-east) window and it does get more light than them. I also find it prefers fine bark, when my other phals are in lecca (not S/H just lecca as a standard medium) or some in large bark.

I'm sure it's quite upsetting breaking a flower off, but the good thing is that this plant is almost always in bloom.

Luckily just the lip of one of the flowers broke, it has 5 flowers open on the two spikes now

Mine often takes a break from flowering, it puts out a batch, then stops then either a new spike grows or the old one puts out a new length and starts again. This time after the break both an old spike grew more buds and a new spike started.

These 5 flowers will be the last for a while as there are no new buds forming just now but they have lasted a good long while so far as the first is still open and shows no sign of fading.
