Phalaenopsis violacea var alba 'Borneo' Male
Default Phalaenopsis violacea var alba 'Borneo'

I grew this violacea from a flask made by one of my good friends in Borneo, Dr. Chiew from Sibu, Malaysia. It has been lined bred from jungle plants collected by Michael Ooi.

Measures 5 cm NS and is pure alba (like all it's siblings). Scent is heavenly. Grown in bark mix, watered twice a week, weekly weak feeding of MSU and alternate fish emulsion and super thrive, about 5 feet away from south window.

Thanks all.

This plant is about 13 years old. Never has more than 3-4 leaves at a time ...

The fragrance does full the immediate area!

How old was it when it bloomed for first time? Really stunning! I have one very stubborn violacea. The plant grow slow and it's small for its age. And it has never bloomed before. It has got more than 4 years. If I have to I will wait even 13 years 😊

Thanks again for the sweet comments!

The plant first bloomed 4 years out of flask. Leafspan was around 8 inches tip to tip of both leaves (at first blooming). Presently it is about 10 inches tip to tip. It is also developing a second spike! Maybe 2-3 flowers this year at once!
