Harder to find phal species
I was looking through the wikipedia entry on Phalaenopsis and google image searching all of them to decide which ones I would like to have someday and there were some that I'm interested in but have never seen anywhere (appendiculata, braceana, etc) Does anyone have any suggestions on somewhere that offers harder to find phals? I do sometimes see unusual ones on ebay, but I was hoping someone knows of a breeder or something.
If they're rare because the country they're from doesn't allow export that's understandable and I can live with that, but if someone knows a place that sells them...
I already know of park side orchids and clown alley.
Thanks.

I would recommend two vendors: Hausermann's--you are in the Chicago area, they are too--in Avilla Park/Adison. The second vendor is Big Leaf Orchids (BLO). BLO is out of Texas, Peter Lin is the proprietor and a well renowned Phal expert. He imports, breeds, raises all kinds of Phals. If he doesn't have what you are looking for, he would probably know where a particular Phal can be acquired.

Agree with Matt. Andy's Orchids also has some of the more unusual species.

I can recommend Louisiana Orchid Connection. They often have the rare and unusual, intergenerics too.

Big Leaf is a great site for the unusual. But when I was at SEPOS show there were 2 vendors I checked out...Ooi Leng Sun Orchids from Malaysia and Ten Shin Gardens from Taiwan. But also check out orchidmall.com for vendors from USA and worldwide. BTW-I do have appendiculata-recently put it on cork mount with sphag. and new growth is happening! YEAH!

In addition to the excellent vendors already mentioned, Al's Orchid Exchange is another good source for Phal species. And maybe you already know this, but always call instead of just looking at websites whenever seeking anything uncommon, most orchid vendors have MUCH more variety on hand than they have the time to reflect in an online catalog.

Thanks for the suggestions all. Feel free to add more if anyone has more ideas. I think that Ten Shin gardens was at the Chicago orchid fest last year, I think I bought a violacea from them. Also liking the idea about calling, didn't think of that.

Ooi Leng Sun Orchids is aaorchids.com and they have appendiculata.
DeaC, how are you growing yours? I want one but have held off, they are suppose to be very difficult.
