This is my first attempt at growing species, they are certainly more challenging than hybrids. One bloom and I'm so happy

I too did not appreciate how small the blooms were. Compensated by it's beauty though.

Very nice! I am looking for a new phal to buy and posts like yours is making my list of possible plants to get longer and longer.

I am also trying my hand at species phals, but you've had better results than me. I have a Phal. hieroglyphica that spiked for me last spring, but then stalled. It now has two new spikes, hope these grow out this time. The anticipation is just killing me.

Try a tetraspis.....they are really nice, can smell great and I find are one of the easiest ones to grow. The bastianii is lovely.
