Thanks again to all your kind words.

The plant is a conjoined twin plants with two small keikis, growing in a 6 inch wooden basket in spagnum moss, wrapped lightly on basal roots. The aerial roots are spreading out on sides and most grow outside moss. I don't push them into the moss and let them roam freely.

The whole basket is wrapped with plastic bag with hole on one side for drainage. This keeps moisture in as well as letting it drained.

In spring and summer, I water weekly and spray daily on exposed roots (and on leaves only on sunny days). I rotate feeding every other watering rotating between fish emulsion and MSU RO, adding super thrive and seaweed extract once a month to the fertilizers. In winter, I spray on sunny days and water every 10 days. I feed once a month very lightly (half of summer amounts).

It grows in southern exposure, 2.5 feet away from windows. Leaves should be apple green to flower well. It likes warm temperatures 18-35C. They can go to 15C if dry at night.

It will flower from April to late September sequentially, and will rest as the cold comes. Some plants flower all year under lights but I feel it will weaken them if they don't have a few months rest. If they flower continuously the spikes will die faster and you will not have that 5-8 spikes per plant for the kind of show they can wow you with.

Hope this helps.

Thanks DeaC. I'm very proud how this plant is doing.

There are actually 3 keikis forming on the flower spikes too! I might just name this cultivar 'Red Octopus'!
