Exactly how long would you say to give it cool? I don't think I was doing anything special or any cooler temperatures when it bloomed for me.

Thanks! I'm going to repaint it soon. The paint is chipping and some of it is sloppy. I think I do better next time.

I put my Phals in a warmer spot as they start to spike. My Sedireas seem to like staying in the cooler bright area until the buds start to form.
Happy growing!

It's looking good Quay!
I believe your plant is standard sized Sedirea. Most darumas I've come across have a mature leaf span of less than 3 inches with some less than an inch. Soon you'll be collecting more forms.

Hmm, maybe it's not a Daruma then, although it looks about the same size as Cat's. Are you sure you're not thinking of a Minmaru? The size you're describing sounds just like a Minmaru.

If I understand correctly, daruma types are miniatures with round leaves. But to be on the safe side I've emailed Glenn Lehr for a more definitive answer and will let you know what his thoughts are.

Google daruma and you'll get those round dolls that rock/wobble. So it stands to reason that the leaves on a daruma-type would be round. I could be wrong.
