flowers wilting before they open?

i currently have a phal i bought last year and its cpoming back into spike. first there was 1 spike, now there are 2, i thought this is excellent news! however, now that the older/taller spike has 3 flower buds on it, ive noticed that before opening any of them, the 2nd one in turned a reddish orange color and began to shrivel up. now the 3rd one in is shriveled as well. could it be too low of humidity as i have electric baseboard heaters which make it pretty dry in here?

If the heat is very dry near the orchid or blowing directly onto the orchid, that could be the reason for the buds drying before opening. It might be rather like drying fruit with a dehydrator. :|
Cold/hot drafts and very dry, hot air aren't very good for tender blossoms and buds. Good luck!
