That is why I started this thread...to learn more about this phal. It is really nice getting so many opinions and advice.

It is also fun to see who is growing it and who has grown it.

Leafmite, thanks for starting this thread! Yes, maybe some of the confusion will lift when we see how others grow it.

I'm on my second stuartiana since my orchid fever started two years ago. The first one I got, came to me in an awful condition, and it was infected with something. It finally succumbed to this infection (it made the entire plant reek among other things) and I ordered a new one.

So, the one I have now, I've had for about half a year and it's working on a spike (it was 77 cm, 30.3", last time I measured). What I have noticed, however, is that the stuartianas I've gotten so far, have all been in quite a bad condition. The one I have now is the healthiest looking one so far, but it's an old plant and it has some sort of infection going as well (came to me already infected)... I just wish I could get my hands on a healthy, young seedling or something, but it seems almost impossible here in Europe at the moment.

They seem reluctant to grow leaves in my conditions, but I've realized that it's 'cause I've kept them a wee bit too dark (same with all my Phals with mottled foliage). They all grow roots like mad, but no leaves really. This spring/summer, I'm going to give them more light and see what happens.

Oh, I have my stuartiana in a plastic, see-through pot and I water it regularly. The only difference between this one and my schill and my Wiganiae, is that I have it potted in coarser bark, to make sure it dries out faster. Can't say I water it any less though. Root-wise, it seems to work. Foliage-wise, I need to work on it.

Default Not too little to bloom!

Hey, all - I just saw this Phal stuartiana in spike on Ebay. Look how little it is! So glad we may not have to wait too long for the seedlings to develop . . . Orchid Species Phalaenopsis Stuartiana | eBay

Default How mine are coming along . . .

So, I got these little Phal stuartiana guys in September 2013 and repotted into bark (I think) immediately; decided they needed humidity and put them in a terrarium in October; they didn't seem to be growing, so put them back in my orchid room in December in very low light; decided they were too dry and needed more light and put them about 18" under T5s and repotted - again - in CHC. After all these dumb changes, the little dudes are GROWING A NEW LEAF! I'm rather surprised they don't hate me after all the changes . . .

New leaves! I love new leaves. Mine is just still happily growing out its leaf. I'll have to take a picture of it soon to update this thread (providing it really does appear to have done something!).
Phals sometimes put out a small spike when young and as they get older, the spike gets larger and more spectacular. I'm hoping that will happen with this one.
Pilot, I would love to see a picture of your Sogo in bloom. I just have a little 'noID' stuartiana.
