I'm on my second stuartiana since my orchid fever started two years ago. The first one I got, came to me in an awful condition, and it was infected with something. It finally succumbed to this infection (it made the entire plant reek among other things) and I ordered a new one.
So, the one I have now, I've had for about half a year and it's working on a spike (it was 77 cm, 30.3", last time I measured). What I have noticed, however, is that the stuartianas I've gotten so far, have all been in quite a bad condition. The one I have now is the healthiest looking one so far, but it's an old plant and it has some sort of infection going as well (came to me already infected)... I just wish I could get my hands on a healthy, young seedling or something, but it seems almost impossible here in Europe at the moment.
They seem reluctant to grow leaves in my conditions, but I've realized that it's 'cause I've kept them a wee bit too dark (same with all my Phals with mottled foliage). They all grow roots like mad, but no leaves really. This spring/summer, I'm going to give them more light and see what happens.
Oh, I have my stuartiana in a plastic, see-through pot and I water it regularly. The only difference between this one and my schill and my Wiganiae, is that I have it potted in coarser bark, to make sure it dries out faster. Can't say I water it any less though. Root-wise, it seems to work. Foliage-wise, I need to work on it.
