How cute! I usually don't go for the spotted types like these, but this one is exceptional!

While slowly venturing into growing more species Phals, it is becoming obvious that many are smaller flowered - always thought they were larger!!

DaveW - there are many smaller flowering phalaenopsis species with flower size range from barely 1 cm (Phal appendiculata or chibae) to 5 cm (like Phal violacea)

One of my favorites!! Love it!
Do u consider maculata difficult to flower? I ask, b/c I thought I've heard some folks say that it is quite difficult to grow & flower... The one I had was destroyed by mites last summer, so I didn't have time to find out, but I will be trying again soon.

Phal maculata is easy to flower. It flowers every year about the same time. It's important to keep it in a somewhat constant temperature. About 70-80F- but mostly in the 75F range. Keep it in shade. This is what I do with most of my species. They don't take the stress of too hot or too cold well.
