That is gorgeous! I can relate to the stalled spikes. I got one of these from Orchidphile at SEPOS a month and a half ago and the 2 spikes haven't moved even a smidgen yet. Since my older post, copied below, I've repotted it again into Orchiata classic. I'm hoping the impending warmer weather will kick it into action.

This hobby really does force a whole new kind of patience on you, doesn't it? The orchid will do what the orchid will do when the orchid will do it. And there's only so much we can do to move things along. If those stalled spikes want to sit there and not budge, that's what you're going to get. Do you grow yours with bottom heat? I haven't yet and it seems happy - so in not inclined to switch things up. Thanks for the note on keikis - I didn't know that. Basal or spike?

And patience was never one of my great virtues. But my solution is to have lots of orchids to virtually guarantee that I'll have some in bloom at all times, even if my growing space is largely a sea of green leaves.

I have a heating pad, but I haven't been using it on anything lately. As to the keikis, these tend to get spike keikis. I had a different cultivar of var. delicata, 'Fernbrook' I think it was, but I lost that one a couple summers ago, keikis and all, to a fast spreading bacteria on the heels of an extremely hot and humid spell.

To be honest, I highly doubt this is a var. delicata. Looking at pictures of delicata, this flower has far too much colour to be labeled as such.

So you're saying the cultivar of lueddemanniana known as 'Orchidphile' is definitely a var. delicata? If so, then this plant isn't properly labeled. I see no way anyone could consider this a var. delicata.

Correct. There is a difference betweem the two, I've seen it. But I have doubts to the identity of the one posted above. Beautiful plants though! Did you get them from Carrie?

I did. I bought it from Carrie this fall at the mass orchid society show. Do you think it could be mislabeled? I bought it out of bloom - but I'd be surprised if she would sell something under a different name. What makes this look different than a standard delicata? I guess I should do a bit more homework here... But happy to free ride on the knowledge of the group.
