Phal mannii 'Black' in flower again
Love this, and a lovely subtle scent in the afternoons.
This was not doing well and while it had a lot of roots all were joined to the plant by dead sections. Last summer I used seaweed extract on it and the flush of new roots was amazing. Unfortunately about half those are coming up into the air as the last photo shows, but there are plenty of new ones going down into the medium as well
It started to grow well then, and has gone to 14 leaves. There are 8 flowers on two spikes with a further 6 buds still to open.

Nice Rosie. Do you notice the fragrance? I seem to be completely missing the smell in my mannii. Timing is so off!

Thanks everyone
Dave, it is fragrant in the afternoons, but gone again by evening. It is only a light fragrance, sometimes I notice it across the room but more often only notice it when I come close to the plant. It smells a bit like melted chocolate to me. Timing wise, the fragrance is gone by the time I get home from work, but when I work at home and at the weekends I notice it.

Very interesting flowers! looks like a bunch of bees flying together.
I like scented phals because phals last forever and that means you get to enjoy the scent for a long time too.
14 leaves are amazing unless it is normal for this plant. My phals tend to keep maximum 8, which is still a lot comepared to most others I have.
By the way, I should try the seaweed stuff on some of my plants. maybe paphs...
Oh, and don't you hate it when so many roots are wanting to just walk out of the pot and go all over the place? Why don't they just go nicely into the pot! lol

What a nice big plant! The flowers look waxy, so I'm guessing they last a long time?!

They don't actually last as long as some of my phals in my experience. A few weeks, rather than a few months like some. I still love them though
