kingidium minus
It took me a while to figure out what this plant likes. I grow it brighter than most phals., and it definitively needs high humidity and drying out between waterings. The pictures don't do it justice, the colour is a richer light yellow. The flowers are about 1cm. across.

Very adorable!!!!! I thought I would let you know that this happens to be ID'd wrong. I have a friend who bought a Kingidium minus (also known as Phalaenopsis finleyi), but it happened to bloom out just like yours. This is technically Phalaenopsis deliciosa, formely known as Kingidium delisciosum. Here is a link to Phal. finleyi, and a link to Phal. delisciosa

Yep Codys corrrect, Phalaenopsis deliciosa.
Very nice one BTW. Do you have a pic of the whole plant? I'd be interested in seeing the shape and color of the leaves.

It's me it happened too, it was bought off of Ten Shin about a year ago.
I talk to him this week end (he was present at the show in Montreal) and apologized whole heartily for the mix up. But he did give me positive ID. It is what is known as deliciosa var hookeriana. He offered to refund me, but I declined as I was not disappointed. I love it!
If you are, however, disappointed in the mistake, you can contact him by e-mail and I am pretty sure he would refund you.
But your specimen is absolutely lovely!
I keep mine in straight hydroton and a bathing every 2 days and it is doing fine!

Gorgeous flowers. If it were mine I'd keep it despite the name mix up. It's a keeper!

Thanks everybody. I will post a picture of the whole plant once I get my camera back. As for the wrong label MANY THANKS! I'm no expert and rather spend my time looking after my plants than keeping up with name changes, so any help (that's how I see it) is very welcome. In this case it even means that I have to find the real kingidium minus (bonus!). It also explains why this plant did not thrive under the conditions for the kingidium.

You can e-mail Ten Shin, they have the real ones. This was just a mistake. I know I will receive mine next show in spring and he even offered to ship sooner... but the winter is a killer!

Mira-Claude: thanks for letting me know. Mine came from Ten Shin, and I'm very happy with it. If they do have the real one now, all the better for me: I'll sure have one on order for our February show.

They always had it, the problem came from the packing. Last year when he packed for the show he sent the plants abroad all together, so everyone that year got the same thing: deliciosa instead of minus!
One of the employes made a mistake. The plants, is cute, healthy and it's a specie, so no complains from me!
