Besides the bellina I just posted, I also ordered a violaces var. sumatra (does var. stand for variety?). She is supposed to be bloominf size, but not blooming and she'll be delivered in a 3,5" (9 cm) pot with bark. I'm perhaps a too impulsive buyer. I first buy and then think if I can give her the conditions she needs to thrive. Any hints on it's culture are more than welcome. Will she be happy with the light and humidity conditions my phal hybrids have? They do well. I'll post pictures as soon as they arrive (together with a blooming Phal. Liodora and a blooming size Dendrobium antenatum)
I grow both bellina and violacea on a windowsill. They both like warmth (30-32C) during the day, but I can only give them 24-26C maximum. Apparently they have adapted to my conditions.
My violacea seems to be a slower grower than bellina, and more demanding.
Both can be grown in bark, sphagnum, etc. The best potting mix is the one you know best and are comfortable with.
They srrived today (Phal bellina 'Chin Yeo', Phal violacea, Phal Liodora and Dendrobium antenatum). Everything in perfect shape. I would surely recommend Schwerter, though it's the first time I've ordered orchids online so I don't have much experience. Here'sca pic from the violacea. I've posted the other pics under their respective forums.
