That's a gorgeous cornu cervi!! I want a red one like that, but the one I've seen for sale is expensive and I'm not sure it's a true Chattaladae

So what is the definition/description of true chattaladae? Is it a natural variation or just an artificially selected variety?

That's a subject of much debate. There was a very good thread about this last year, I'll look it up for you. If I remember right, var chattaladae is a natural variation, but I think very very few exist in the wild. There are problems with 'red' cornu cervi being called chattaladae. chattaladae should be solid red, but you see plants with some barring and marking getting called that though hey are just plain 'red'. I may be wrong on some of it, it's a complicated story. So I'll find that thread!

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...attaladae.html Pretty interesting discussion, and have a look at the link to the chattaladae website in the first page of posts.

A friend of mine paid SGD$1700 for a one a few years ago, he brought it in from Thailand.
Now it's going for anywhere from $30-$100 per plant.
Can't even tell the difference between a $30 or a $100 plant.
There are talk that a true Chattaladae don't even exist, it's just another red variant from a certain part of Thailand.
You decide.
As for me, I just like it for what it is, a red cornu cervi.

I want a solid red one like yours, no matter what the name. But the seller that has it says it's chattaladae, but only a stock photo (not the actual plants he has), I can't be sure it's solid red...
