Beautiful!! Looks like it recovered very well from the mealies. I'm very sad to report that the keiki you had sent me died not long ago. I've grown keikis before, but yours refused to establish, refused to grow. Over the winter it finally woke up and made 2 basal keikis, but as quickly as it woke up it went downhill. At least I have 7 other equestris plants to keep me happy!

I wouldn't stake it, Phal equestris is just one of those that looks better growing naturally, even if it is out at an odd angle. You would have needed to guide it more upwards while it was growing.

Mine has been in bloom since around Christmas with 2 spikes and generally has 6-8 flowers on each spike. I have it mounted which presents some problems in my growing area because of the length of the spikes. 1 is 24" and the other about 18". I don't know about 'everbloom' but it certainly puts on a nice show.

Yes Camille this is "mummy". I'm Sorry you lost the keikie from this one. Nice to know you have lots more plants & look forward to seeing pics!
I only have this colour, an alba & a 'blue' which also got attacked by mealies at the same time; It's working on it's 3rd leaf since the mealie episode; hopefully it will also throw up a spike this year.

I hope you have time to post some photos Bill! I would love to see your "problem" as if mine were to grow a spike that long I would be in the same dilemma

Nenella, it's hard to get a good picture of it with my point & shoot camera but here it is..
It actually looked it's best when the spikes were about half their current length. It's starting to look sort of leggy.

Aww, I don't think I can ever get enough of these cuties, not only are they adorable, but they practically grow like weed too!
It must feel great to have been able to save it from its infestation and even better when it decided to bloom again.
I only have one equestris in bloom at the moment (my little "Maria"), but I have several in spike so I'm expecting a little equestris show here in a couple of months.

Wow, crazy looking spikes!! The spikes on mine never get that long, they dry up (or make a keiki at the tip) well before that!
