Didn't know that. You'd almost think it was a different species!

Aw, I might try to bring it closer to the light as a test, like Camille proposed, since mine is currently pushing a new leaf, but won't be too disappointed if it doesn't marble some... wonder if I'll ever get that light coffee fragrance off the flowers? that'd be lovely
...like Brenda said we can never have too many stuartianas! Or in my case, a schilleriana that I am planning to get soon hehe. That should scratch my "mottled-leaved phal" itch

I don't even own a stuartiana yet! I have a schillie and the hybrid of both, but not a stuartiana... I need to do something about this quick!!

It doesn't hurt to try. I think I remember reading that there might be some spots, but that they fade as the leaves mature, so if that happens, don't be alarmed, it's just the var nobilis playing with your heart.

They're gorgeous, aren't they? When I got my very first mottled leaf Phal, a P. Wiganiae, I realized that I needed to have its parents too. I now have a P. schilleriana that grows like mad and I LOVE it, and, hopefully, I'll get my first P. stuartiana soon. In the meantime I have a P. lidenii, P. celebensis, and a P. philipinensis to help me get my "mottled leaf fix".

Oh, important thing; if you keep your mottled leafed Phal too bright, the spots will fade, just so you know. I think my schillie has been kept too bright because it doesn't have that distinct mottling as I have seen other examples have. The new leaf it's growing looks very promising though.

Yes you do! I think Elsner has stuartiana, so go there and order one or two when it's time to get some TC for the project plant.

I have orders planned at Lucke, Elnser, Schwerter and Claessen.... I can in a stuartiana, somewhere!
Looks like I'll be spending most of next month's holiday bonus on orchids!

Of course you can! There's always room for a stuartiana.

I obviously can't write today, I'm forgetting words in nearly all my posts! I'll blame it on my allergies which are making me miserable today. Birch trees are flowering now and spreading their lethal pollen.

I noticed but I understood what you meant to say.

It must suck to be allergic, especially during spring. I'm so glad I'm not since this is my favourite time of the year with all the greenery practically exploding, the migrating birds returning, and the Phals growing.

I'm allergic to very few things luckily, so it's only for a few weeks in the spring.
