Default Phal amabilis 'M'

I am so amazed at how many variations of Phal amabilis I have seen. Mine finally bloomed and I am pleased with the shape (I didn't know what to expect as the blooms didn't develop last year when I got it)

I am also a bit confused about the species itself. In some cases I have seen people referring to it as Phal aphrodite and Phal amabilis interchangeably. I know they are two different species but what is the difference? Somewhere I was reading that one got misnamed at some point and, hence, the confusion. However, I can't find that website link anymore and I am not sure of its validity. Anyone out there can shed the light?

Thanks

Very pretty, Jane. Given the second shot showing the length of the lip, it should be labelled aphrodite. Amabilis has a longer lip. Most Taiwanese plants labeled amabilis are aphrodite.

Fortunately for us, both are beautiful.

Thanks for the info. This really helps. I guess I'll be changing the label.
