Talking Premier flower opening of P. equestris

This little guy took me by complete surprise when I got out of bed today. I knew its very first blooming wasn't that far off, but for it to open today was completely unexpected. That's what happens when one goes from NoID hybrids to a species Phal I suppose since I couldn't really tell that the bud was as close to opening as it apparently was!

This is one of my equestris trio, which were my very first equestris, as well as species Phals, that I purchased for over a month ago. I'm soooo happy that its very first flower has finally opened!

It's not completely open yet, by I just had to share its grand opening with you guys. I also had to take a picture of the equestris next to my equestris hybrid just to show you guys the size difference! It's almost like David and Goliath, right (or Goliath and David if taking their positions into account)?

Neither can I! And the equestris hybrid isn't a humongous plant either, it's just that this little guy is sooo small and so darn cute.

Thanks both Tucker and Kim! I agree with you wholeheartedly Tucker, it IS a wonderful species, especially for a species beginner and Phal newbie like myself. This species is great for beginners since it's so very easy, undemanding, and cute. If you want a confidence boost just buy an equestris or two and watch them grow!

I never get tired of those blooms! equestris can bloom on fairly small plants, but it will get much larger. Nowhere near as big as hybrids, but mine has 20cm leaves now.
