Phalaenopsis chibae
I recieved this one about a year ago, maybe longer. When I first got it, it was in full bloom, maybe with 30-40 blooms. But they all quickly fell off. I suppose it has acclimated to my conditions since it has sent out 3 branched spikes and so far I have two good looking blooms. This is my second attempt at growing this species, the first one was in a terrrarium and it died there. Probably too wet.
As a side note. This plant was growing with my Masdie collection which was decimated by scale these last eight weeks. See this thread:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ce-plants.html
Yet the plant survived, decided to bloom and is doing well, apparently scale free.

Lovely flower! So glad you phal was spared the scale attack. Scale always attacks my bay laurel ('infests' is a better word) each winter (I am constantly using alcohol and cotton balls to remove it) and, yet, the touching citrus, jasmines, camelia, etc. are never affected. The previous bay was killed by scale so I am very diligent with this one. I can only surmise that they prefer bay laurel above all my other plants, that the sap must taste much better than the rest or perhaps the others release more defensive chemicals.

Here are the last of the blooms. I never got around to taking pictures of the plant when all three spikes were in bloom ~30 flowers.

Beautiful! I was just about to order one as a buddy for the latest project plant. Glad yours survived the scale attack, it would have been a shame to lose it!
