Default Phal species blooming now

Phal hainanensis- one of three plants on a small cork mount, first of the three to bloom. The second plant is not far behind.

Phal stuartiana var nobilis- I bought the plant in bloom, and the flowers were indeed yellow. It rebloomed for me, however the flowers look like regular stuartiana, and it has been open since Feb 6th.

Phal braceana (which is apparently now a synonym of taenialis, even though the two species do NOT resemble one another at ALL in my opinion.) My plant will remain labeled as braceana.

Beautiful blooms. The stuartiana is true to its form and the next time it blooms you will have more flowers in the spike...as it grows older it can give you 20 to 25 flowers in a spike so imagine if you have two spikes...
you can always go back to your vendor and ask for the correct name.

What do you mean ask for the correct name? It is a stuartiana var nobilis and was blooming when I received it. It was yellow as a nobilis should be. It rebloomed white for me. Most likely due to environmental differences. I hope next year it yellows.

Oh, the colour on the Phal hainanensis...just... wow...

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your stuartiana var nobilis realizes it is a var nobilis and no ordinary stuartiana till next blooming.

Very beautiful species! I don't see how braceana and taenialis can possibly be synonyms, they are clearrly 2 very different plants.

Great stuartiana! Before reading the text correctly I was also confused because it clearly does not look like a var nobilis. That is very strange indeed for it to bloom as a normal type this time. I know that in some orchids different light levels and temperature can lead to some quite striking differences in color like that. Do you know how your culture differs from that of the grower you got it from?
