As far as purchasing one. I'm sure Orchidview has plenty and usually their species are $35 each. I have seen some that are kinda leggy like a mannii. You can see on this one that it has fat legs. I like it better, so you know what you're getting from Orchidview. Peter at Big Leaf always has good stuff too.

I can't smell a fragrance. It is a tiny flower on a very small plant. I hope the bloom will be bigger on a larger plant. This plant is still in compot and I noticed tonight it was sticking out a second spike. Very vigorous. Its not even under good light.

Sorry for the late replied. I don't understand Orchid Board. It will send me an email about the first couple replies and then I don't know if I get any unless I come look. Not sure what I'm doing wrong about that.

Oh yeah, this flower was 2 weeks old when I finally got a pic. I hope to get a pic of a fresh flower in the next week. I have another about to open.

How is your chattaladae doing these days? Can you let us know the cultural conditions under which yours grows? I'm very interested in, for example, your light (intensity and duration), temp. (highs and lows and whether you provide bottom heat), humidity (highs and lows), fertilization routine, growing medium, pot type, etc.

I would also be interested in hearing about these types of cultural detials from anyone else with a thriving chattaladae.

That's a beauty!

These are easy to grow. I got mine a few years ago as 3 plants in a compot in a 3" pot. They are still there. Way over grown. Leaning over the pot. I can't even move the pot because the roots have stuck to the spot where they are. I need to repot them some day, but they seem happy. They are in rotted sphagnum that dries out quickly. They are under T8 light which isn't enough. The temperature is whatever my basement is which is usually in the upper 80's when the lights are on and lower 70's when they are off. In the winter that dips to the upper 60's. They don't get any special care. In fact, they get treated pretty poorly.

Thanks Ben, that's wonderful news! I like to grow orchids that like neglect. My conditions are more or less living room conditions, so finicky orchids and I don't often get along. I hope mine winds up being half as nice as yours. It really is a beautiful example. Thanks again for the tips.
