Phal. Tetraspis 'C1' bloom-a-long
I can't remember the other member on here who has this same plant but mine is finally growing buds and some I think will bloom within the week. One of the caveats to this one is that the plant may only bloom pure white, which I'm ok with but I really like the bars of this species. I think today I found evidence that it will not be pure white, but in fact it may be variable. Check out the pics and tag along for the blooming ride!
There is a bar you can see appearing already on an unopened bud.
But there is a much larger one that is closer to blooming but appears to be pure white.
And finally a little treat...some of my favorites
Spotted eagle
Ember...my most strongly scented.

I think it will be a nice show... The plant has six spikes...all old and it's reblooming on them. I have new root growth so it went into sh. Though I think it will benefit from a heating mat for a while. Do you know if this is a warm grower?

Your first pic looks like it has at least a single bar on it, but that probably means it wont show solid red petals or sepals... Boo.
But, I agree with Cody, this should be a really good show! I would be surprised though if this blooms out within a week. Still looks like a younger bud

Good to know! I'll get it on a heating mat very soon. It seems all of my phals love the heating mat, warm grower or otherwise.
Here's another current bloom...anyone venture a guess what it is?

Hmmm, amboinensis or venosa. Or a hybrid heavy in them.
Oh, and factors such as heat and light can affect the appearance of the bars on the tetraspis. I am just not sure what does what.

I wasn't looking for solid reds like speciosa (I hope I got the name right) but just a bar here and there...just enough to make it more interesting than a pure white bloom. And you're right of course, it may not bloom, but I was referring to the large all white one...in the past day it's taken on a much bigger shape and size, so I'm just guessing since its the first go with this plant in my care.
I do have a speciosa....has two spikes but I believe both have stalled. The plant itself is doing very well. Well, actually, the most recent spike may not have stalled but it takes forever to see any new growth!
